DOHA: Parents of independent school students can buy fabric for uniforms and stitch at a place of their choice, says the Supreme Council of Education (SEC).
However the schools will provide parents with the uniform design and colour, according to a circular issued by the Education Institute of the SEC.
School uniforms for girls should be designed in a modest way complying to Islamic dress standards as a loose fitting long dress with long sleeves and not transparent.
The schools have been requested to provide parents of students who are new or being admitted to Grade 1 or KG, with a sample piece of cloth.
The skirt of primary school uniforms should be light blue, grey or pink while preparatory school students wear either maroon, brown or grey skirts and schools could choose among grey, dark blue and black skirts. However shirts should be either in white, beige or pink for everyone.
While, girls and boys at all Independent schools should wear either a black, white, dark blue or maroon trouser with a white, dark blue or maroon shirt.
