The Qatar Gymnastics Federation (QGF) hosted a coaching workshop over the weekend, engaging participants from more than 15 countries.
QGF President Ali Al Hitmi joined a number of top officials from International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) for the Level III coaching course that discussed in detail a number of key issues.
Keith Russell, the FIG Academy expert, was one of the prominent officials at the workshop.
Takashi Kobayashi, Monem Jemni and Peggy Liddick, all FIG Experts, also featured at the workshop.
Coaches arrived from Indonesia, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Egypt, South Africa, India, Iran, Sri Lanka, Lebanon, Syria, Malta, Thailand and Ukraine besides a number of officials representing QGF.
The lectures were held in two shifts with theoretical and practical topics discussed in detail.
Al Hitmi said: "This is a great opportunity for all the participants to be part of a workshop of this nature. This workshop is sanctioned by FIG and we are privilege to have the presence of Keith Russell."
Al Hitmi added: "Qatar's Abdul Rahman - who has participated in level 1 course before - could not be here this time since he has university exams to take care of. We are keen on the development of at least two Qatari cadets getting FIG certificates in future."
Russell said: "I am happy to share my experiences with QGF. It is wonderful to be part of a course of this nature as it takes the game forward by allowing officials from all ICO-member countries to feature at such workshops."
Anis Mustafa Saud of QGF said: "This workshop also saw participants from Africa and Asia. Clearly we are moving forward in terms of the development of the sport."
He added: "We organized this workshop in 2008 and then last year when we went for the Level II course."
