DOHA: Multiple high definition cameras will be used to ensure better coverage of the Sixth Qatar International Falcon and Hunting Festival 2015 which opens today in Sabkhat Marmi near Sealine in Mesaieed.
The number of cameras to be used to cover the daily competitions during the month-long festival has been increased to 12. Al Kass, which will broadcast the events two hours daily, already started airing last night the preparations for the festival.
The festival is being broadcast in Qatar and neighbouring states. Prior to the festival, the team travelled to some GCC states to conduct interviews with falconers and experts in raising falcons on their preparations for the festival.
Al Gannas Association and festival Chairman Ali bin Khatim Al Muhashadi said preparations for the festival have already been completed including the facilities required for the participants in the competitions.
Sign boards have been placed to guide people to the direction of the festival venue. Transportation is available to take people from the main road to the venue.
The organising committee has announced it will send SMS to participants to alert them of the competition date and time of their competition. They should however keep in touch with the committee to make sure of the timing.
The Hadad Challenge, the most popular competition with the highest number of participants, will kick start the festival today. Out of the 1,406 who registered at this year’s festival, 535 are participating in this category.
Other categories include Al Mazain, Al Tala’a, Al Da’o, Hadad Al Saluki, Young Saker and Old Saker. Held under the patronage of H E Sheikh Joan bin Hamad Al Thani, the month-long festival is considered one of the largest festivals specialized in the field of falcons and hunting in the region.
