DUBAI: A man and woman have been jailed for a year after their illegal affair was exposed in a leaked sex tape.
The Emirati pair, a divorced woman and a married man, was both in their thirties, were yesterday sentenced over the video, reported a local daily.
They were arrested when the film – which the woman insisted was made 10 years ago – was circulated on the internet by another man. The court was not told how he came to acquire the footage.
Prosecutors at Dubai Court of Misdemeanours said police received information about the three-minute clip, which had been cut from the original 30-minute video. It showed the pair having sex in a hotel room.
Police identified the man and arrested him on January 17 while the woman was arrested later. The woman, a mother of two children who has been divorced from her husband for nearly two years, confessed to making the pornographic video.
“She claimed that she didn’t intend to make the film for distribution and said that she had made more sex videos with the Emirati man during their relationship,” an Emirati policeman said.
“She claimed that they used to work in the same place when their relationship started and she kept seeing him even when he moved to another job .”
Dubai Public Prosecution has charged another man with circulating the sex tape on the internet, however his case has not yet reached court. The duo plan to appeal the verdict.
