Doha, Qatar: The Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar, HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani participated in an emergency Gulf–European ministerial meeting held via videoconference Thursday, March 5, 2026 to discuss the repercussions of the Iranian attacks on Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states and the escalating developments in the region.
The meeting brought together the foreign ministers of the member states of the GCC and the European Union, along with the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission.
Discussions during the meeting focused on the regional consequences of the Iranian attacks on GCC countries and the broader security implications of the current escalation, which participants said are having negative impacts beyond the region.
During the meeting, HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs renewed Qatar’s strong condemnation of the Iranian attacks targeting Qatari territory, as well as attacks on other GCC and brotherly countries. He affirmed Qatar’s full solidarity with these countries and their efforts to safeguard their sovereignty, security, and stability.
He stressed that the Iranian attack on Qatari territory constitutes a flagrant violation of the country’s national sovereignty and contradicts the principles of good neighborliness, emphasising that such actions cannot be justified under any circumstances.
HE The Prime Minister also noted that Qatar has consistently sought to distance itself from regional conflicts and has played a role in facilitating dialogue between Iran and the international community. However, he said the renewed targeting of Qatari territory undermines trust and threatens the foundations of the understandings governing bilateral relations.
