Cabinet approves proposal on academic years

Doha: The Cabinet meeting presided over by the Prime Minister H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani yesterday approved a proposal by the Minister of Education and Higher Education  for opening and closing dates of academic years 2013/2014 to 2015/2016.

These dates have been unified at schools and the University of Qatar according to directives by the Cabinet and in the light of an Advisory Council recommendation and in coordination between the Ministry of Education and Higher Education and  the University  of Qatar as follows:

Unifying the mid-term holidays of the University of Qatar  and schools  from academic years 2013/2014 to 2015/2016.

Introduction of holidays for the second mid-term at schools in line with  the University of Qatar to be compatible with the holidays of the second semester at the university.

Bringing closer  the beginning and end of the academic year of the University of Qatar and schools as closer as possible.

The meeting approved the enforcement of the provisions of Law No. 24 of 2002 on retirement and pensions for Qatari employees at Qatar Holding Company.

A draft agreement on cooperation in the field of education and higher education and scientific research between governments of the State of Qatar and the Kyrgyz Republic was also approved.

The Cabinet  considered ideas of ministries and government and public authorities and corporations on the application of the government  Human Resources Planning System (Mawarid).

It also discussed a letter by Qatar Financial Information Unit on its annual report for 2012.
