DOHA: Qatar Academy students celebrated World Teacher’s Day with appreciation cards for their educators prepared during their Arabic classes.
Maha Al Romaihi, Senior School Assistant Principal, one of the Appreciation Day organizers, said that “we encouraged all departments to talk about this day and remind students of it.
Students wrote letters during their Arabic classes and put them in teachers’ inboxes”, informed Qatar Academy in a press release.
Arabic Academic Coordinator Rula Atawneh added that “as an educator, I have always looked at my students as citizens who will be ready and prepared to be actively involved in the development and progress of their own countries, of the whole world as one. In a sense, as teachers, we may be the present but our students are the future”.
As a lifelong education administrator who has worked in independent schools around Qatar, Al Romaihi understands this role clearly and appreciates not only the students’ effort but that of their parents as well. “Parents and students always thank me for the easy communication policies we have in the school. We have an open door policy where students and parents can meet teachers and administrators easily in the school to express any concerns or seek information”.
She believes that the open communication between the parents, students and the school not only strengthens the QA community but, more importantly, highlights the role the teachers in their students’ lives.
“Being an educator means being a person who offers unconditional care and love to students. We are here to support them in everything to make them learn and find their place wherever their aspirations may take them”.
