DOHA: Al Sailiyah crushed Al Rayyan 5-1 in a comprehensive victory in the Qatar Stars League (QSL) yesterday.

Braces by Alinga Diba (38, 55) and Dagano Bally (84, 86),  along with a Fawzi Ayesh strike (19) gave Al Sailiyah all the three points.

Emir Cup champions Al Rayyan equalised through Haroun Moses (38), but could not make it two wins in a row after defeating Al Khor 4-0 last week.

Al Rayyan have now lost three games this season.

Meanwhile, reigning champions Al Sadd came from 2-0 down to draw 4-4 against Umm Salal.

Oathman El Essas (2), Bakary Kone (9, 28) and Caboure (90) scored for Umm Salal.

Hassan Al Haydos (23), Mahdi Ali Mokhati (45), Khalfan Ibrahim (48, 64) scored the goals for Al Sadd at Qatar Sports Club Stadium yesterday.

Eljaish, coached by Razvan Lucescu registered their second successive victory edging Al Kharaitiyat 1-0 thanks to a strike by Wagner Ribeiro (34).

Al Gharafa snatched a late equaliser thanks to Miku (90+4)  who cancelled out  Qatar SC’s Moussa Al Allaq’s (7) early strike in their QSL match.

Al Sailiyah only had to wait until the 19th minute when Ayesh opened the proceedings with a thumping strike.

Al Rayyan equalised seven minutes before half-time through Moses.

However, Al Rayyan soon found themselves 2-1 down at half-time when Diba scored his first goal of the match with an easy header.

Diba got his second of the goal 10 minutes later.

Late goals from Bally, including a penalty, helped Al Sailiyah clinch the points for what was their second win of the season.

In other QSL matches today, two-time champions Lekhwiya, who will be aiming to win their second straight match, travel to Al Khor at 6.15pm.

Al Ahli face Al Arabi at 8.30pm, while Al Wakra meet Muaither at home. THE PENINSULA
