Indian Ambassador inaugurates painting exhibition on Gandhi

Doha: Ambassador of India, H E Dr. Deepak Mittal inaugurated a painting exhibition in the Ashoka Hall of the Indian Cultural Centre to commemorate 151st Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. The exhibition was held with the theme of Mahatma Gandhi’s works, ideas, dreams or Mahatma Gandhi himself. 

The opening ceremony was attended by First Secretary (Consular & Community Affairs), Coordinating Office of ICC, S. Xavier Dhanaraj, and First Secretary (Culture & Education), Hemant Kumar Dwivedi. 

Dr Deepak Mittal felicitated the winners and judges of the Painting & Speech Competition, which was held on Mahatma Gandhi’s life, teachings and principles. 

He along with P N Baburajan, President of ICBF gave away the 150 health cards donated by ICBF for the needy fisherman community personnel in Al Khor area along with the other aid. This was a part of ICBF’s Benevolent and Philanthropic activities for the 151st Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.

In his address Dr. Deepak Mittal, who is also the Patron of Indian Cultural Centre, expressed enormous praise for the participants, mainly the children who had participated in the Painting and Speech Competition.

In his welcome note, President of Indian Cultural Centre, Manikantan AP appreciated the wholehearted support from the Ambassador and from the Embassy of India for all the ICC events and activities. 

He announced that following the Ambassador’s initiatives, in lieu of the flower bouquet reception of event guests, ICC would be donating the full premium of ICBF insurance scheme for four needy persons. He also announced that the Chairman of Advisory Council of ICC, K M Varghese has pledged 20 more such premiums.

General Secretary for ICC, Seenu Pillai was the master of ceremonies while Joint Secretary, Anjan Ganguly proposed the vote of thanks.
