Doha, Qatar: Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) has launched a multi-specialty medical convoy in Sudan, with a volunteering medical delegation deployed from Qatar to perform surgeries for displaced and underprivileged patients at Bahri Teaching Hospital.

Being carried out in cooperation with the Khartoum State Ministry of Health (MOH), the project is aimed at bolstering medical services, alleviating the suffering of patients, and reducing surgical waiting lists.

The delegation comprises Dr. Mansour Ahmed Jaber, senior consultant pediatric surgeon at Sidra Medicine, and Dr. Siddiq Mohieddin Siddiq, consultant general surgeon at Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC).

Over one week, the medical team will perform up to 116 free general, urology, and paediatric surgeries. To enhance the quality of medical services provided, the hospital’s medical staff will receive training by the visiting experts from Qatar. The total cost of the project is QR347,142.
