Lima:Peru's ex-president left hospital Wednesday after a cataract operation and returned to jail where he is serving a 25-year sentence for corruption and rights abuses, his doctor said.
"At 10:30 am he left the hospital in good condition in a prison ambulance," wearing a patch on his right eye, Fujimori's personal physician, congressman Alejandro Aguinaga, told AFP.
The 77-year-old was in good spirits and "ready to carry on writing his memoirs about his time in government, of which he has so far written 342 pages," Aguinaga said.
Fujimori, who also holds Japanese citizenship, was president of Peru from 1990 to 2000.
He was first jailed in 2007 and convicted in 2009 for his role in killings by a death squad targeting supposed members of the Shining Path guerrilla group in the 1990s.
He has had numerous health problems since going to jail, including high blood pressure and a cancerous growth on his tongue.
Doctors detected cataracts last month after he complained of blurred vision while writing his memoirs.
