Doha: Qatar Sports Club will look to bounce back in the Qatar Stars League after last week’s defeat when they take on Al Arabi here today.
Qatar SC lost to defending champion Al Sadd 2-1 in the last round match.
Al Arabi have lost four of their last six games and changed managers after two consecutive drubbings. Qatar SC is in sixth place and is one position higher than Al Arabi. Both teams therefore will see this as a crucial match.
With only seven matches left until the champions of the QSL is crowned, neither side can afford to lose if they want to try and reach for a Champions League berth. Sebastian Lazaroni’s side have also had a torrid time with two loses in their last three games.
However, the advantage in Qatar’s favour is due to the fact that they are having the same manager they can claim to have more stability at the club.
Al Arabi on the other hand has a point to prove with the recent sacking of Stielike.
They will be looking to nurse this difficult time with a win.
Lekhwiya lead the QSL standings with 43 points.
On Tuesday, Lekhwiya trounced Al Gharafa 3-0.
Lekhwiya scored the first goal came in the 31st minute with Korean Nam Tae-Hee beating the off-side trap and running onto a perfectly weighted pass from Qatari international Sebastián Soria.
Nam Tae-Hee placed his shot past the keeper and the defenders chasing back were too late.
Soria was instrumental once more and in the 42nd he received the ball on the edge of the box and before anyone had a chance to close him down, he had already dispatched the shot into the bottom left-hand corner.
Then to top off a bad night for the Cheetahs, on the 82nd minute new signing Vladimir Weiss scored on his debut and sealed the victory for the league leaders.
