HMC temporarily shifts Obstetrics Department at Al Wakra Hospital

Doha: Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) announced that its Obstetrics Department at Al Wakra Hospital will be temporarily transferred to the Intensive Care Unit at the same hospital. 

The temporary shift is to complete renovation and some necessary maintenance at the hospital.  

The transfer to the new location is scheduled to take place on February 7 and 8 and services will resume as usual at the original location once maintenance work is completed. 

Patients seeking care at the Obstetrics Department during this period will have to proceed to Gate No. 3 to reach the temporary location instead of the main entrance to the Obstetrics & Gynecology Department, tweeted HMC.

Dr. Lolwa Al Ansari, Head of Obstetrics & Gynecology Department at Al Wakra Hospital, said that Obstetrics and Gynecology Department at Al Wakra provides expectant women with first-class prenatal healthcare which include care at the outpatient clinics, labor rooms, surgery, inpatient care, in addition to general obstetric and gynecologic care.

 A high standard of patient and family privacy and confidentiality is adhered to throughout their healthcare path.

Suad Al Khulaiji, Head of Nursing at Women's Emergency Department at Al Wakra Hospital said that the transfer work, which includes the preparation of the emergency labor room, observation rooms, isolation room and registration counters, is currently underway. “Medications for women will also be made available at the Pediatric Emergency Department Pharmacy. Clinical and nursing teams will move to the temporary location afterwards,” Ms. Al Khulaiji added.

Fayrooz Abu-Essa, Head Nurse at Al Wakra Hospital’s Labor Room, said that services at the Obstetrics Department will not be affected by the temporary transfer as the Department will remain fully operational throughout the expansion and renovation works period.
