Honour for QPMC’s sustainable CSR initiatives

DOHA: The sustainable CSR plans and initiatives of Qatar Primary Materials Company (QPMC) were honoured at the launch ceremony of the fourth edition of the National CSR Report held at Qatar University (QU) recently in the presence of the ‘CSR Person of the Year 2015’, H E Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, President of the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC).
The launch of the National Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Report (Leaders’ Visions) was held under the patronage of Prime Minister and Interior Minister H E Sheikh Abdulla bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani.
With its keen efforts aimed at serving the community in Qatar, QPMC pays high tribute to significant community programs and events that contribute to the wellbeing of the Qatari community at large. Awarded for its annual progress of sustainable development in society especially in CSR and for its dedication in serving the Qatar national vision, “QPMC is determined to contribute to building bridges between cultures foremost between its labours and employees and to partake in key CSR initiatives that achieve sustainable development across all the community in one human bound, a leading example for which Qatar is known for.
Eisa Al Hammadi, CEO of QPMC, said: “Serving the community is a key part of QPMC’s vision in achieving corporate social responsibility and sustainable development.”
He added, “Our aim is to help contribute to the nationwide CSR initiatives, across various key pillars and at the forefront of achieving a sustainable CSR plan in alignment with our company’s prime programmes: Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) Management is an integral and essential part of the way we do our business and is considered an equal part of the wider system for the management of our business.”
“Our goal is to protect our people, the public, our property and the environment in which they work and live. It is a commitment that is in the best interests of our customers, our employees and all other stakeholders to follow safety regulation and reduce incident as far as reasonable and practicality,” he said.
The HSE team consists of 11 employees, including heads of departments who work in the morning shift and the administrators who supervise health and safety in two shifts in the afternoon and at night covering all sites and operations 24 hours a day.
All QPMC employees and contractors attend mandatory training on safety guidelines and procedures on site before starting their duty. Human resources department organises staff sessions concerning the required business rules and behavior regulations and explain medical insurance services offered.
In addition, QPMC introduced the concept of the suggestion box to collect all the suggestions, complaints and other information on a weekly basis from work sites, and are dealt with in a very serious manner and with full confidentiality.The Peninsula
