DOHA: Qatar Exchange index added 0.45 percent to hit a fresh 52-week high yesterday. The index rose 43.91 points to 9,808.46 from the previous closing of 9,764.55. The market is up 17.34 percent year-to-date. Market capitalisation crossed QR537bn. Top gainers were General Insurance, Qatar Fuel, Qatar Islamic Bank, Industries Qatar and Commercial Bank.
General Insurance was up 4.61 percent to QR54.50 and Qatar Fuel rose 1.43 percent to QR268.90. Qatar Islamic Bank was up 1.01 percent to QR69.90 and Industries Qatar edged 0.25 percent to QR159.90. Commercial Bank of Qatar at rose 0.58 percent to QR69.80. Barwa Real Estate gained 0.40 percent to QR25 and Masraf Al Rayan was up by 0.35 percent to QR28.90. The 20-stock Total Return Index was up 0.45 percent to 14,014.03 points. The All Share Index rose 0.45 percent to 2,467.36. The Al Rayan Islamic Index gained 0.25 percent to 2,814.59 points.
Under the All Share Index category, consumer goods gained 1.05 percent, followed by telecoms, up 0.86 percent. As the insurance sector and the real estate gained 0.71 percent and 0.54 percent respectively, the banking and financial services sector rose 0.35 percent. The trading volume decreased to 4.9 million yesterday from 5.5 million on Sunday and the trading value fell to QR244m from QR270m.
