Doha: Dr Mohammed Al Momani, the Jordanian Minister of State for Media Affairs and government spokesman has lauded Qatar’s contribution and support to Jordan in its humanitarian relief to Syrian refugees.
Dr Al Momani said the HH Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and King Abdullah II of Jordan have laid down pillars of bilateral relations between the countries.
In an interview with Al Sharq Al Momani praised Qatar’s support and contribution with the Gulf donors to Jordan saying, “we are looking forward to enhance such relations to new horizons in the future.”
The Jordanian official reiterated his country’s stance on the resolution of the Syrian crisis, urging the stakeholders and Syrian political parties to start negotiations and stop the ongoing bloodshed .
He revealed that Jordan has taken all precautionary, preventive and necessary measures to protect its citizens from any danger or threatened by the Syrian situation .
He confirmed that his country condemns the use of chemical weapons by the Syrian regime, stressing no impunity for anyone who used the internationally prohibited weapons and those who do such horrible crime should be punished under international law and relevant international conventions.
Al Momani said a political solution is the best solution to the Syrian crisis to maintain the unity of Syrian lands, noting, however, that his country is currently hosting more than 1.3 million Syrian refugees and bearing the economic, financial and security burden calling on countries to increase their aid to Jordan to fulfil its pledges to these refugees.
