Doha: Prime Minister, Interior Minister and Supreme Education Council (SEC) Chairman H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani attended a ceremony to mark World Teachers’ Day yesterday.
During the ceremony at Qatar National Convention Centre, many Qatari and other Arab teachers from various schools in Qatar were honoured for their efforts.
Minister of Education and Higher Education and SEC Secretary-General H E Dr Mohammed Abdul Wahed Ali Al Hammadi congratulated all teachers, praising their efforts in educating children at different education levels.
“This year’s celebration comes amid vigorous and sustained efforts by Qatar, led by Emir
H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and under the guidance of Prime Minister, Interior Minister and SEC Chairman H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani to improve the education system in the country through systematic and well- studied plans that keep pace with the requirements of current era and maintain our Islamic values of tolerance, while preserving our heritage and taking into account our customs and traditions,” Al Hammadi said.
He stressed that the SEC will constantly seek to adopt all that could develop teachers’ capabilities, including training, so that they can deliver quality education and professional teaching.
He said the SEC has taken initiatives and actions, including the development of national professional standards, the launch of a training and educational development centre and the formation of Teachers Advisory Committee, among others. QNA
