Doha, Qatar: President of the Federation of GCC Chambers (FGCCC) and Chairman of Qatar Chamber Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim bin Mohammed Al Thani chaired the Federation’s 69th Board meeting, held yesterday, in Bahrain, with the participation of GCC chamber heads, and Saleh bin Hamad Al Sharqi, the Secretary-General.

The meeting discussed several topics, including enhancing economic and trade cooperation among Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states, the role of the private sector in developing intra-GCC trade, and ways to achieve Gulf economic integration.

Addressing the meeting, Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim bin Mohammed Al Thani, Chairman of the Federation of GCC Chambers and Chairman of the Qatar Chamber, welcomed the participating heads of the GCC chambers. He noted that the meeting is taking place at a time when the region faces unprecedented, rapidly evolving challenges—foremost among them geopolitical instability and disruptions to international trade and navigation—which have resulted in supply chain pressures and rising costs for transport, shipping, and insurance.

He also commended the proposals submitted by the member chambers, stating that these proposals would be translated into practical programs.

Qatar Chamber participated in the meeting with a delegation that included Board Members Ibtihaj Al Ahmadani, Mohammed bin Mahdi Al Ahbabi, and Nasser bin Sulaiman Al Haidar. The delegation also included Acting General Manager Ali Saeed Bu Sherbak Al Mansori, Hamad Al Marri, Director of the Committees and Business Councils Department, and Ahmed Abu Nahia, Director of Public Relations and Communications.

The meeting agenda included a report on the decisions of the Union’s 68th Board of Directors meeting, the Union General Secretariat’s work program for 2027, the Union’s annual budget for 2027, and proposed topics for the 15th consultative meeting between Ministers of Trade and Industry and the heads of Chambers of Commerce and Industry federations across GCC countries—a meeting scheduled to take place today, in Manama
