DOHA: Educate A Child (EAC), a programme of the Education Above All Foundation established in 2012 to promote and facilitate access to the universal right to education entered into a new agreement yesterday.
Gonoshahajjo Sangstha (GSS), a Bangladesh organisation signed a grant agreement with Education Above All Foundation.
The partnership is focused on enrolling over 100,000 out of school children in remote villages and urban slums of Bangladesh into GSS schools. To support the education of these children, more than 2,000 new teachers and school staff will be trained and new textbooks and teaching materials will be provided. Child centered active teaching and learning practices used by GSS will ensure students receive a quality education.
This week GSS and other EAC partners from around the world are participating in the annual World Innovations Summit on Education (WISE) in Doha, Qatar where EAC is headquartered. The theme of WISE this year, “Reinventing Education for Life”, explores how innovation can close the gap between education, learning and life.
Shamse Ara Hasan, GSS Director of Education, said, “The main focus of GSS is to ensure quality education to each of our students. We are very happy to join with EAC and deeply appreciate their support in this endeavor. I am very impressed to see that EAC has put quality education at the center of their programming.”
Mary Pigozzi, EAC Director, said, “We are very pleased to partner with GSS. Not only will their program provide schooling for children who would not otherwise have educational opportunities, their proven model of quality will provide these children with an education that will prepare them for greater engagement with society and their communities.”
