Doha, Qatar: Hamad International Airport has announced that it will conduct a full-scale emergency exercise tomorrow, January 8, 2024.
MATAR, the Qatar Company for Airports Operation and Management, will be conducting its sixth full-scale emergency exercise at Hamad International Airport (DOH), on January 8, 2024, from 5pm to 8pm.
"The simulation, is part of MATAR’s commitment to ensure the highest level of preparedness in the event of an incident, while safeguarding the wellbeing of staff and passengers," HIA stated in a travel alert update.
The exercise will take place in the passenger terminal and the maneuvering area located airside therefore the exercise will not affect airport operations.
The emergency exercise also involves aircraft distress landing, and accident, according to the travel alert.
"The simulation will involve an aircraft distress landing and accident, which will test the effectiveness of the airport’s emergency response and that of its partners, stakeholders, and government agencies," HIA added.
The full-scale emergency exercise will be conducted in coordination with partners and stakeholders including Qatar Airways Group, Airline Operators Committee, Airport Customs, Ministry of Public Health, Hamad Medical Corporation Ambulance Service, Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Defense, National Command Center, Ministry of Transport and Communications, State Security Bureau, Qatar Emiri Air Force, Qatar Air Accident Investigation, Qatar Red Crescent Society – Emergency Medical Services, Qatar Disaster Victim Identification Team and Qatar Civil Aviation Authority.
