DOHA: Activities to mark the 31st GCC Traffic Awareness week will kick off today and will continue until March 14.
This years events are being held under the theme "Your decision determines your destiny", at Darb al Saie. The traffic exhibition will be inaugurated by Staff Maj. Gen. Saad bin Jassim al Khulaifi, Director General of Public Security at 6m in the presence of Brig. Muhammad Saad Al Kharji, director general of General Directorate of Traffic along with dignitaries from other GCC countries, directors and officers of different departments of Ministry of Interior.
All preparations have been completed in Darb al Saie. The celebrations will start at 6 pm. The week-long events include workshops for students on the theme of the traffic week and workshop on (your safety is your choice), free art and workshop on traffic signals.
The activities include seminars on different related topics as well. A seminar will be conducted on (driving decisions and their role in the reduction of accidents), on third day on the topic (common traffic signals among communities), and on fourth day on the topic (Motorcycles between hobbies and risks).
There will be awareness lectures in different days on (role of family in the reduction of accidents) by Dr. Eissa Al Hurr, lectures by Qatari Lawyers Association and Red Crescent, lecture on (drivers’ behaviours) by Sheikh Saaban al Sinouhri from Awqaf, lecture by Injuries Unit at Hamad General Hospital, lecture on the (rights of persons with special needs) by Qatar Awareness Group, lecture by Traffic violations in the view of Islamic Shariah) and lecture on (reduction of traffic violations) by Dr. Muhammad Abdul Rahman.
A variety of art events will be showcased by Eid Charity, Mawater, different driving schools, and other related agencies and competitions will be organized on the sidelines of the Traffic Week activities.
