Science India Forum - Qatar (SIFQ), recently held an Annual Science Gala and Award Ceremony at Birla Public School (BPS) auditorium.
The event was lined up with educational modules such as Science & Engineering show by Texas A&M University Qatar; Interaction with School students and teachers by eminent scientist and professor, Qatar University; Inter-school Science Skit Competition based on the theme, “75 years of Independence – Scientific development in India" and Tech talk on application of Science principles in real life by M/s ABB.
This event was the culmination of yearlong activities conducted by SIFQ during 2021 and the winners of various competitions, guide teachers, trainers and evaluators were felicitated.
The event was attended by Ambassador of India to Qatar, H E Dr. Deepak Mittal; First secretary (Culture & Education) Embassy of India, Sachin Shankapal; Dean and professor, Texas A&M University Qatar, Dr. Cesar O. Malave; Scientist & Professor of Biochemistry, Qatar University, Dr. Lakshmaiah Sreerama; Director – Qatar Academy of Science and Technology, Dr. Gregory J. Moncada and President of Indian Sports Centre & Director of Birla Public School, Dr. Mohan Thomas.
The event was also attended by community leaders, school principals, vice principals, head of departments, teachers, science lovers and professionals.
During the workshop, Dr Lakshmaiah Sreerama interacted with teachers and students, encouraged them to stir up the passion in one self to be keen on the observation in order to develop innovative skills, making science learning more interesting and easily understandable.
SIFQ President Dipak Dahake presented the activity report for the year 2020-21 that included Shastra Pratibha Contest, Qatar Children’s Science Congress, Teachers Empowerment Programs, Science talks, educational tours, VAIBHAV summit and others.
He also outlined new educational goals for 2022 and appealed to all schools, teachers, parents to encourage students to participate in SIF Educational activities for developing scientific temperament among students.
Chief guest and dignitaries applauded the efforts taken by the SIF team in conducting various activities not limited to schools students and teachers but also for promoting India International Science Festival, participation of SIF students in Qatar National team of International Chemistry Olympiad.
