The Turkish Ministry of Defense announced today that 73 members of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) have been killed so far as part of the Operation Claw-Lock implemented by Turkey in northern Iraq since the middle of last month.
Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar said, in a press statement, that Turkish forces are chasing PKK militants under harsh weather conditions and continue storming their hideouts, noting that they managed to destroy 102 caves and hideouts for the militants, as well as 524 handmade explosive devices.
Akar pointed out that 10 soldiers of the Turkish forces have been killed since the beginning of the military operation, which he said is being carried out successfully according to plan.
On the eighteenth of last April, Turkey launched Operation Claw-Lock against the strongholds of the PKK organization in the areas of Matina, Zab and Afshin-Basian in northern Iraq.
