Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs has inaugurated the Saif bin Saif Al-Maadadi Jami’ mosque in the Muaither Al-Wukair area, marking a new addition to the country’s expanding network of places of worship designed to meet growing community needs.

The newly opened mosque, constructed on a spacious plot exceeding 4,000 square metres, can accommodate a total of 570 worshippers, including 500 men in the main prayer hall and 70 women in a dedicated prayer area. The Jami’ mosque, registered under number (M.S 450), also includes two residences for the imam and housing for the muezzin, ensuring full operational readiness and support for religious leadership.

The project was funded as a charitable endowment (waqf) by a generous donor, reflecting the enduring tradition of philanthropy and community service in Qatar. Officials emphasised that such contributions represent a form of ongoing charity (sadaqah jariyah), yielding continuous spiritual rewards. The Ministry expressed its appreciation for the benefactor’s initiative, highlighting the importance of private contributions in supporting religious infrastructure and community cohesion.

The opening of the mosque aligns with the Ministry’s broader strategic plan to expand and modernize mosques across the country. This initiative is part of ongoing efforts to keep pace with Qatar’s rapid urban development and population growth, in line with the goals of Qatar National Vision 2030. The Ministry continues to prioritise accessibility, capacity, and quality in mosque construction to ensure that residents in all areas have access to well-equipped places of worship.

In terms of facilities, the mosque is designed to provide a comfortable and accessible environment for worshippers. It includes a spacious ablution area, a large number of public parking spaces, and designated spots for people with disabilities. The entrances and exits have been carefully organized to facilitate smooth movement, while a tall minaret adds a distinctive architectural feature to the mosque.

The Ministry’s Engineering Affairs Department plays a central role in planning and delivering such projects. Its responsibilities include assessing the needs of different areas, providing temporary mosques where necessary, and implementing annual maintenance plans for mosques and imam residences.

The department also oversees the design, construction, and technical specifications of mosque projects, ensuring high standards of quality and sustainability.
