Doha: The Emir H H Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani sent a cable of congratulations to the King of Sweden, Carl XVI Gustaf, on the occasion of his country's National Day yesterday.
The Heir Apparent H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister H E Sheikh Hamad bin Jassem bin Jabor Al Thani have also sent similar cables to the Swedish king.
Cairo: Qatar is keen on supporting Arab efforts to tackle water challenges, the Minister of Energy and Industry H E Dr Mohammed bin Saleh Al Sada has said.
The Minister said this on the sidelines of the fifth Arab Water Ministerial Council meeting, which approved yesterday an executive structure of the water security strategy in the Arab region.
Dr Al Sada pointed to the significance of the strategy at a time when Arab countries face water challenges that require unity and exchange of expertise.
In an interview with Qatar News Agency, the Minister said the meeting reviewed the experiences of Libya, Algeria and Saudi Arabia in desalination, adding that Qatar will present its own experience in the next session of the Arab Water Ministerial Council.
Dr Al Sada underlined Arab welcoming of Qatar’s hosting of the second Arab water conference next year.
Dhaka: President of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, Mohammed Abdul Hamid, yesterday met Qatar’s Ambassador to Bangladesh, Abdulrahman Yousef Al Mulla, on the occasion of the end of his tour of duty.
During the audience, Ambassador Al Mulla conveyed greetings of the Emir H H Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, and the Heir Apparent H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to the Bangladesh President, and their wishes for the government and people of Bangladesh of further progress and prosperity.
President Abdul Hamid asked the Ambassador to convey his greetings to the Emir and the Heir Apparent, and his wishes to the government and people of Qatar of more progress and prosperity.
He also wished the Ambassador more success in his career and for continued development and progress of relations between Qatar and Bangladesh. QNA
