DOHA: Qatar Chamber (QC), the representative body of the private sector, will encourage companies to bring in their employees under the country’s ambitious health insurance scheme.
“We welcome the government’s initiative. There may be smaller companies complaining about the cost involved in the insurance coverage. But they should realise that at the end of the day the employee’s efficiency will increase and that is going to benefit companies,” QC Director General Remy Rohani told The Peninsula.
He said it is important for owners of companies to realise that they need to be efficient and that employees and their families are fully insured.
“We need to ensure employees have the peace of mind and this is the best way to do that. We are encouraging the private sector to make sure they are getting maximum benefit out of the scheme.
“We support this system and will cooperate with the government to ensure the scheme is implemented in the best way.”
QC has a sectoral committee on insurance. It recently held a network session with stakeholders in the scheme. The Peninsula
