GCC Traffic Awareness Week begins today

DOHA: Activities to mark the 31st GCC Traffic Awareness Week start today and continue until March 14. This year’s events are being held under the theme ‘Your decision determines your destiny’, at Darb Al Saie. 
A traffic exhibition will be inaugurated by Staff Maj. Gen. Saad bin Jassim Al Khulaifi, Director-General, Public Security, at 6m in the presence of Brig. Muhammad Saad Al Kharji, Director-General General Directorate of Traffic, and dignitaries from other GCC countries, directors and officers of various departments at the Ministry of Interior. 
Preparations have been completed. 
Week-long events include workshops for students on the theme of the Traffic Week and on ‘Your safety is your choice’, art and a workshop on traffic signals. Seminars will be held on ‘Driving decisions and their role in the reduction of accidents’, ‘Common traffic signals among communities’ and ‘Motorcycles between hobbies and risks’.
There will be awareness lectures on the role of family in reducing accidents by Dr Eissa Al Hurr, Qatari Lawyers Association and Qatar Red Crescent, on ‘Drivers’ behaviours’ by Sheikh Saaban Al Sinouhri from Awqaf, a lecture by Injuries Unit at Hamad General Hospital, another on ‘Rights of persons with special needs’ by Qatar Awareness Group, on traffic violations and Shariah; and ‘Reduction of traffic violations’ by Dr Muhammad Abdul Rahman.
