Mind Center for Special Needs partnered with DHL Express Qatar to launch an on-site simulation service point at the Mind Center for Special Needs’ (MCSN) campus.

The service point, entitled ‘DHL’s Empowered Service Point’, is the first of its kind in Qatar and allows teenagers and adults of all abilities to experience a simulated workplace.

The students will gain knowledge in packing and scanning shipments, creating airway bills and entering data into a specially developed IT program to develop their skills and prepare them for practical and hands-on professions.

The partnership stems from DHL’s commitment to purpose and Living Responsibility.
As one of the world’s largest and most innovative employers, DHL prides itself on its values of diversity and equal work opportunities, which perfectly align to MCSN’s mission to integrate special needs students into mainstream society through individual and group therapeutic interventions within the larger framework of social, academic and professional inclusion in Qatar.

The DHL Empowered Service Point joins a host of other simulation rooms on MCSN’s campus – including a hotel room, restaurant and café, supermarket and more.

On the occasion of the launch, Mahmoud Haj Hussein, DHL Qatar Country Manager, said, “It has been a pleasure collaborating with Mind Center for Special Needs and developing the DHL Empowered Simulation Service Point to prepare young adults with special needs for the workplace. The students will be able to experience working for DHL Express Qatar, Qatar’s No1 Great Place to Work in an initiative that is part of our commitment to Connecting People, and Improving Lives.

"We had previously joined MCSN for Qatar Sports Day activities and had the opportunity to spend time with the students and we are looking forward to more collaborations with MCSN in the future.”

Lucy Balzan, Mind Institute and Mind Center for Special Needs’ Deputy Director, said, “We are honored to partner with DHL to grow our offerings and capabilities across our Pre-Vocational and Vocational Programs. This partnership is a substantial milestone in our growth since our opening last year and is testament that the work we do at both Mind Institute and MCSN to empower individuals with special needs is being recognized at a larger level. Our partnership also sheds light on DHL’s ethos and its commitment to support and engage a very important community in Qatar – the special needs community. We look forward to continuing to grow our relationship with DHL.”
