DOHA: Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa) marked the World Environment Day on Wednesday at Al Arabi Sports Club in collaboration with Kainat Foundation.
Kahramaa participated the event with much zeal and gusto recognising the importance of the protection and sustainable use of natural resources and with the motive to create a safe, secure world for future generations. It was as part of Kahramaa’s campaign for the National Campaign for the Conservation and Efficient Use of Water and Energy (Tarsheed).
A number of schoolstudents, parents, scouts, senior functionaries of participating organisations and dignitaries were present at the occasion including a Kahramaa’s delegation led by Engineer Abdulla Majid Al Khulaifi, head of conservation technology at Conservation & Energy Efficiency department.
The campaign is aimed at encouraging people to become more aware of the environment impact of their food choices and empower them to make informed food decisions.
Participating schools gave presentations on related topics. A presentation from Kahramaa Tarsheed was also screened.
“Protection of our planet is our shared responsibility and it is up to all of us to pursue sustainable policies and practices every day to save the precious environment. Kahramaa is committed to protect the environment as per one of the pillars of Qatar National Vision 2030,” said Al Khulaifi.
An exhibition by students on environment and eco-issues was the centre of attraction. All creations spread the message of environmental protection.
On the occasion, a number of prizes and certificates were distributed among participating schools and students. Organisers were also felicitated at the occasion.
