Doha: Nasser bin Khaled Al Thani Charitable Foundation launched the annual ‘Ramadan Goodwill Drive’ in partnership with Qatar Charity.
The initiative, the first of many planned by the recently launched organisation, reflects the foundation’s objectives and aspirations for contribution to philanthropic and social activities in cooperation with other Qatari organisations.
It reflects the spirit of compassion and generosity of the holy month and is in line with the foundation’s commitment to offer help to less privileged members of our community.
The campaign will see ‘Nasser bin Khaled Al Thani Quran Memorization Competition’ from July 12 to 14. It is divided into seven categories based on participants’ age groups and is open to Qatari and expat men and women.
The men’s competition will be held at Qatar Charity Centre for Social Development in Al Rayan and the women’s competition at the centre in Al Rayan and Al Khor.
H E Sheikh Nawaf bin Nasser bin Khaled Al Thani, Chairman the foundation, said, “We are pleased to present the competition that reflects the spirit of Ramadan and its core values — symbolising spirituality and brotherhood.
“This is the first of many activities planned by the foundation, and we hope it will be a good start for events and activities in the future aimed at social and humanitarian development in Qatar.
“We would like thank our partners QC for sharing our vision and helping us achieve our goals.”
Saif bin Ahmed Al Kuwari, CEO, QC, said: “We are pleased to partner with the foundation to organise the event for the benefit of the public in line with the auspicious month and to connect with one of the largest demographics in our society. We will enhance this partnership as we evolve in our efforts to continue serving people in Qatar and around the world.
“The collaboration is in line with QC’s objective of preserving our cultural and educational identity and  raising awareness of the teachings of the Holy Quran among our younger generation.
“Our centres in and outside Doha host regular activities to teach students, men and women learnings from the Holy Quran, offering explanations and insights into the Islamic faith along with related educational, inspiring and cultural activities.
“We thank the foundation for its support for hosting Ramadan activities, including Iftar gatherings, for the labour community. We hope to extend the partnership and enhance our initiatives to serve less privileged members of not only our community but also across the globe,” he added.
