MoEHE opens government school registration centres for 2026-2027 academic year

Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE) has announced the opening of registration centres for student admissions and transfers to government schools for the 2026-2027 academic year, with services available from July 5 to August 13, 2026.

The ministry said the registration centres will operate daily from 8am to 2pm to assist parents with new student enrolment and transfer procedures.

Registration centres

Parents can visit the following centres to complete registration and transfer procedures:

Moza bint Mohammed Preparatory School for Girls – Women's Registration Centre

Abu Hanifa Model School for Boys – Men's Registration Centre

Al-Ahnaf bin Qais Preparatory School for Boys – Men's Registration Centre

Ali bin Abi Talib Preparatory School for Boys – Men's Registration Centre

Admission categories

The ministry said new admissions to government schools are available for eligible students, including:

Children of Qatari citizens.

Children of Qatari women.

Children of GCC citizens.

Children holding Qatari documents.

Children of non-Qatari employees working in ministries, government entities, public institutions, charitable organisations and approved private institutions.

Children of permanent residency and qualifying real estate residency holders.

Children of diplomats and administrative staff working in embassies.

Eligible children of private sector employees residing in areas without private schools offering the required grade level.

The ministry added that non-Arabic-speaking students applying under eligible categories must pass an Arabic language assessment. Appropriate remedial programmes will be provided based on assessment results.

Required documents

For new admissions and transfers from private schools, parents must provide:

Valid Qatari ID copies for the student and parent.

Student's birth certificate.

Two recent passport-sized photographs.

Employment certificate for the parent, where applicable.

A recent certificate from the Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (KAHRAMAA) showing the residence electricity number or a certified tenancy contract.
School entry health assessment certificate and health file.

Qatari document copy for eligible document holders.

Students transferring between government schools are required to submit a valid Qatari ID copy and proof of residence through a recent KAHRAMAA certificate or certified rental contract.

Age requirements

The ministry said students' ages will be calculated as of December 31 of the admission year.

It also announced an exception for students transferring from private schools within Qatar or from schools abroad. Students applying from Grade 5 onwards who have successfully completed the previous academic year may be admitted even if they are below the minimum age requirement.

The published admission schedule outlines minimum and maximum age requirements for all primary, preparatory and secondary grades to ensure students are placed in the appropriate educational stage.

Electronic registration services

The ministry also reminded parents that electronic services remain available, including:

Early electronic registration for government schools.

Early electronic transfer between government schools.

Additional online student registration and transfer services.

Parents are encouraged to ensure all required documents are complete before visiting registration centres to facilitate a smooth admission process for the new academic year
