Riyadh: The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia condemned Iran’s targeting of the Saudi tanker ‘Wedyan’ as it transited the Strait of Hormuz, as well as its attack on the Qatari tanker ‘Al Rekayyat’, stressing that these unacceptable attacks constitute an assault on the security and safety of international navigation and on the security of global energy supplies.

In a statement issued, the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Iran’s continued attacks amounted to a grave violation of international law, international norms, and UN Security Council Resolution 2,817, which guarantees freedom of navigation and the safe passage of maritime traffic.

The United Arab Emirates has also condemned in the strongest terms the “Iranian aggression” attack that targeted the Qatari tanker “Al Rekayyat” while it was passing near the Strait of Hormuz.

In a statement, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that this attack represents a serious threat to the safety and security of international navigation, and is a dangerous escalation aimed at undermining the security and stability of one of the world’s most vital waterways.

The Kuwaiti Cabinet also expressed its utmost denunciation of the Iranian attack on the Qatari tanker. It said this act amounts to a flagrant violation of international law and poses a direct threat to the security and safety of maritime navigation, as well as global energy supplies.

Egypt voiced its condemnation of Iran's targeting of a Qatari tanker while crossing the Strait of Hormuz, considering that this constitutes a violation of international law and a threat to the security and safety of international navigation, and exposes the security of global energy supplies to serious risks

In a statement, Jordan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs described the attack as a flagrant violation of international law and a threat to the security and safety of maritime navigation. The ministry reaffirmed Jordan’s condemnation of the attack and expressed the kingdom’s full solidarity with Qatar, stressing its support for all measures the country takes to safeguard its security, stability and national assets.
