DOHA: Qatar Foundation for Combating Human Trafficking (QFCHT) is taking steps to launch a hotline in collaboration with ictQatar, reported an Arabic daily yesterday.
The new hotline 108 is likely to start operating in two months. The division which is in charge of providing shelter to the victims is assigned to follow up with complaints received online. The hotline will be launched as one of many steps taken by the Qatar Foundation for Combating Human Traficking to support victims and safeguard human rights, said the daily.
Recently, the foundation launched a legal and social clinic with an aim to increase awareness among students and the community, together with the universities and several other institutions. The project is an educational programme together to provide service for the victims and aims to enhance legal education among students.
Dr Abdullah Al Mal, chairman of Qatar Foundation for Combating Human Traficking said: “The legal and social clinic is to increase capability of students by engaging them with practical and theory education. We will also support the victims who are unable to take legal action against human trafficking.”
This clinic includes educational and practical training programmes for university students and researchers to build their capacity and knowledge in combating human trafficking and to create qualified manpower to have enough knowledge and academic qualification.
