DOHA: Real estate registration and documentation services at the Ministry of Justice are being made simpler and faster, with a special committee working to develop e-services.
The ministry said it is also planning to provide e-services of the Real Estate Registration Department soon for trading centres to facilitate citizens’ work.
“The ministry is working on the establishment of an e-database (real estate and cadastral) and archiving all property documents. To modernise and develop services, a committee has been formed under the chairmanship of the Justice Minister to develop e-services at the ministry,” the ministry said in a statement yesterday, in the context of National Day.
The ministry said development of real estate registration and documentation services is top priority of the committee. It aims at high efficiency to facilitate the public to deal with the ministry using modern technology through applications that can be downloaded on smart communication devices such as iPhone and iPad, said the statement.
On its achievements last year, the ministry said manual labour was replaced by automated systems “which facilitated transactions for the public, tightened control over the documentary cycle, and ensured the rights of people from damage or loss.”
The ministry completed 31,481 transactions from January 1 to November 28 this year. It also provided services for the public in evenings at the Documentation and Eeal Estate Registration Department to facilitate services and reduce pressure on the ministry and the public during normal working hours.
The ministry opened new branches of the department in Al Khor and in the Industrial Zone services complex.
The State Lawsuits Department represented ministries and other government institutions and public bodies in 2012 with nearly 975 cases, mostly relating to construction contracts, land and property disputes, and issues relating to civil service and administrative decisions.
The department got a lot of court rulings in favour of state bodies in 438 cases and is continuing to follow the rest of the cases until the final judgments.
This year, the Agreements and International Cooperation Department studied 161 international co-operation deals, 137 mutual co-operation deals in various domains, and three deals at the regional and international levels.
It also studied a draft agreement on extradition of criminals between the GCC countries, a draft Arab convention to combat human trafficking, a proposal to establish a GCC non-profit organisation to protect rights of authors, composers and others. The Public Relations and Communication Department has set up a working group to communicate with the public through social media like Facebook and Twitter and activate the hotline to respond to any queries or complaints.
