The Ministry of Public Health (MOPH) will organise a workshop to draft the National Action Plan to Combat Antimicrobial Resistance in Qatar. The event, in collaboration with Eastern Mediterranean Regional Office of the World Health Organisation, will be held in March 12 to 14.
The event aims to develop multi-sectorial integrated national action plan to combat anti-microbial resistant microorganisms, which is in tune with objectives of WHO’s global action plan and also Gulf Co-operation Countries (GCC) strategy.
It also aims at establishing “One Health Approach” of multi- sectorial group and provides a training for taskforce on their roles and responsibilities to contain AMR problem at national level and prioritise interventions based on importance and urgency of the country's requirements.
Antimicrobial resistance happens when microorganisms like bacteria, fungi, viruses, and parasites change when they are exposed to antimicrobial drugs like antibiotics, antifungals, or antivirals among the others.
