Beach Volleyball: Ranghieri, Carambula win Qatar Open

Doha: Italy’s Alex Ranghieri and Adrian Carambula outplayed their Austrian counterparts Alexander Huber and Robin Seidl in a grueling two-setter of 21-17 and 21-19 to become the champions of the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour Qatar Open which concluded at the Qatar Beach Volleyball Academy courts at Al Gharafa Sports Club yesterday.
The Italian pair landed in the final after a stunning 2-0 (27-25, 21-14) victory against Poland’s Losiak and Kantor while the Austrian made it to the final after the 2015 Qatar gold medalists, Germany’s  Markus Bockermann and Lars Fluggen withdrew late in the second set due to injuries.
This was the third straight year that Qatar hosted a FIVB World Tour event in Doha.
The World Tour continues the Road to Rio that lasts until June 13, 2016 with FIVB World Tour events counting towards the Olympic Ranking in order to determine 15 of 24 spots for each gender that will take part in the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
The next World Tour tournament is the Xiamen Open in China, which takes place from April 12-17.The Peninsula
