DOHA: The United States embassy in Doha celebrated National Day at the St Regis Hotel on Tuesday. Ambassador Susan L Ziadeh welcomed the guest of honour, Minister of Economy and Finance, H E Yousuf Hussein Kamal, along with members of Doha’s diplomatic corps, and a diverse array of leadership from Qatar’s government, business, education, culture, and technology sectors.

The ambassador invited National Day guests to embrace the theme of America’s ‘Endless Possibilities,’ and find inspiration in the United States’ tradition of collaboration, free exchange of ideas, and commitment to inventive progress.

She spoke of the spirit of innovation bringing America and Qatar into closer partnership.

“America’s strength and vitality lies in our steadfast belief that ingenuity is our most valuable resource. The foundation of America’s legacy and future is our unwavering faith in the principle that anything is possible. Qatar shares our commitment and vision to transform ideas into action, and we will join together to innovate,” she said.

Guests enjoyed a performance by Matt Wilson Arts & Crafts from the Jazz at Lincoln Center program.

“We are proud to support the Jazz at Lincoln Center’s mission to inspire and grow new audiences for America’s national music. American jazz musicians have been drivers of innovation, stewards of our social conscience, and cultural ambassadors to international communities for generations,” stated the Ambassador.

A dual US Marine Corps-Qatar Leadership Academy colour guard ceremony and the official cutting of an American-flag inspired cake completed the evening, which also included regional American cuisine reflecting the geographic and cultural diversity of America.
