Islamabad: Pakistan’s President Mamnoon Hussain will pay a four-day official visit to Nigeria from today. During his stay, Hussain will have one-on-one meeting with his Nigerian counterpart Goodluck Jonathan, to be followed by delegation level talks, according to (Pakistan Radio). Senior officials including ministers and governors of different states of Nigeria will also call on the President. This will be first visit to Nigeria by a Pakistani President in three decades. The President will address business forums in Abuja and in Lagos. Several agreements are expected to be signed during this visit.
Sharif to visit Tajikistan
Islamabad: Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will embark on a visit to Tajikistan on June 17 at the invitation of Tajikistan President Emomali Rahmon. Adviser to Prime Minister on National Security and Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz will also visit Moscow next week to participate in an international conference on national security, where he will meet with the Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
Ten killed in Karachi violence
Islamabad: At least 10 people were killed in separate incidents of violence across Karachi, (Geo News) reported. A policeman was killed in Orangi Town near Banaras Pul while another was gunned down on MA Jinnah Road. Two people were killed near Ayesha Manzil while two people were killed in a firing incident in Manghopir. The driver of an ambulance was killed when gunmen opened fire on it on Lyari Expressway. Three people were killed in a firing incident in Steel Town.
10 militants killed
in Baluchistan
QUETTA: Pakistani paramilitary forces yesterday killed more than 10 rebels in the southwestern province of Baluchistan as part of a fresh operation to quell a long-running insurgency, officials said. The operation in Dera Bugti district’s Gandyari town, 250km southeast of here, came just three days after troops killed 30 militants in the same area. Officials said the town, close to the borders of Baluchistan, Sindh and Punjab provinces, was the hub of a separatist movement carrying out attacks on trains, bridges and security forces.
