Emir appoints ambassadors

Doha: The Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani yesterday issued several decisions. Emiri decision No. 59 of 2014 appointed Mubarak Abdurrahman Mubarak Al Nasr as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Comoros.
Emiri decision No. 60 appointed Khalifa Ahmed Mohamed Al Suweidi as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Turkmenistan. Emiri decision No. 62 appointed Abdullah Ibrahim Abdurrahman Al Hamar as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Vietnam. Emiri decision No. 61 transferred the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Vietnam, Mohamed Jabir Abdullah Al Sulaiti, as Ambassador at the Foreign Ministry.


Instruments of ratification issued


Doha: The Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani yesterday issued an instrument of ratification, approving a draft agreement between Qatar and the Kyrgyz Republic on avoidance of double taxation and prevention of fiscal evasion of taxes on income. The Emir also issued an instrument of ratification, approving a draft agreement on air transport between Qatar and Botswana. The Emir issued an instrument of ratification, approving the ratification of amendments to the Convention on Physical Protection of Nuclear Material 1980, adopted by the Diplomatic Conference of States Parties to the Convention on July 8, 2005, on the basis of its Article 20. The Emir issued an instrument of ratification, approving a draft agreement on the organization of employment of Tanzanian labour in Qatar. The Emir also issued an instrument of ratification, approving a draft agreement on security cooperation between Qatar and Morocco, signed in Rabat.

Emir hailed for boosting joint Arab action

Doha: The Secretary-General of Arab Interior Ministers Council, Dr. Mohammed bin Ali Kuman, commended efforts of the Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to promote joint Arab action in various fields. 
Speaking at a meeting of the ministerial committee delegated to decide on the statute and regulations for Prince Nayef bin Abdulaziz Al Saud Award for Arab security here, Dr. Kuman also thanked the Prime Minister and Interior Minister H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani for hosting this and the preparatory meetings.
Dr. Kuman said the meeting approved the statute and regulations. He said the Prime Minister has allocated two seats in the Police College for Arab countries through the Arab Interior Council General Secretariat. He said the award focuses on topics, including the promotion of community policing and its role in achieving security, as well as the support of human rights.


Military, Air Force colleges to be set up

Doha: The Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani yesterday issued Emiri decision No. 64 of 2014 to establish and regulate Joaan bin Jassim Joint Command and Staff College, to be managed by the General Command of the Armed Forces and supervised by the Minister of State for Defence Affairs. The college will have a legal personality and its budget is attached to that of the Ministry of Defence. The Minister will issue a decision to set specifications and regulations for the use of a flag and logo for the college. The Emiri decision stipulates that the college will have a supreme council chaired by the Minister and the chief of staff as vice-chairman, along with assistants to the chief of staff, army commanders and college commander as members, in addition to a representative from the Supreme Education Council and a representative of the academic donor. The minister, based on a proposal by the college commander, can appoint any other member to the council.  
The Emir also issued Emiri decision No. 65 of 2014 to establish and regulate Al Zaeem (Leader) Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Attiyah Air Force College, which will be managed by the General Command of the Armed Forces and supervised by the minister. It will have a legal personality and its budget is attached to that of the ministry. The minister will issue a decision to set specifications and regulations for the use of a flag and logo for the college.
 The Emiri decision stipulates that the college will have a supreme council chaired by the minister and has the chief of staff as vice-chairman, along with assistants to the chief of staff, army commanders and college commander as members, in addition to members appointed via a decision by the general commander of the armed forces based on recommendations from the Minister.
