DOHA: Fuel stations not being located in many places in the city and other places is causing inconvenience to the public, reported an Arabic newspaper yesterday.
Although services of petrol stations are in high demand in Doha and other areas, its distribution and facilities are not satisfying say some citizens.
Petrol stations located in places away from Doha are mostly not safe and not upgraded, they blame. Fahad Al Shamari a Qatari national, said: “Safety at entry and exit point at some petrol stations is always at a risk and some places are causing traffic. Many places don’t provide support services that should be given in those facilities.”
“Some time to change oil we have to drive a very long distance. As the population increases, the number of cars also increases, so there should be more fuel and service stations,” he further said. He also suggested that the Civil Defence inspect petrol stations and check about their safety.
Salman Al Mahmoud, another Qatari national, said: “The number of patrol is not enough. For example in the Al Wakra, there were only two and one is closed for maintenance, either we have to go to Mesaieed to Al Matar. Also most petrol stations are old and lack maintenance. But petrol stations located near schools and residential areas should be removed for the sake of safety.”
He said only the Woqod petrol stations are modern and have all facilities under one roof. Salah Al Marri, respondent to the Arabic daily said there should be strict measures taken to strengthen the safety of petrol stations, recalling an incident occurred three years back in the Hilal areas in which a petrol station caught in fire.
