Riyadh: Secretary-General of the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC), Jassim bin Rashid Al Buenain, visited the Qatari delegation’s headquarters at the Islamic Solidarity Games in the Athletes’ Village on Sunday.
During his visit, Al Buenain met with Qatari athletes, encouraging them to give their best and deliver performances that reflect Qatar’s growing sporting stature on the international stage.

He toured the delegation’s building, reviewed the workflow and administrative procedures, and praised the efforts of the Qatari management team in ensuring smooth participation in the sixth edition of the Games.
Al Buenain was accompanied by Sheikh Khalifa bin Khalid Al Thani, Director of the Sports Sector at the QOC, and was received by Salah Al-Saadi, Director of the Qatari administrative delegation, along with members of the team residing in the village.

Eighty-two Qatari athletes are competing across 16 sports at the Games: athletics, duathlon, 3x3 basketball, karate, equestrian, wrestling, volleyball, handball, taekwondo, table tennis, judo, weightlifting, camel racing, swimming, fencing, and para-athletics.
Qatar boasts a distinguished record at the Islamic Solidarity Games, with its medal journey beginning in Makkah 2005, where it claimed its first gold medals. The success continued in Palembang 2013 (five medals), and reached a new milestone at Baku 2017 with 12 medals (2 gold, 3 silver, 7 bronze). In Konya 2022, Qatar maintained the same total while increasing its gold count to four.
Overall, Qatar’s history at the Games includes 30 medals - 8 gold, 8 silver, and 14 bronze - underscoring the nation’s steady growth and competitive spirit in regional and international arenas.
