Doha: Qatar SC seek less drama and more stability in their Qatar Stars League (QSL) clash against Al Gharafa today, coach Sebastiao Lazaroni said yesterday.
Lazaroni was welcomed back into Qatar SC fold with two heavy last month defeats but the Brazilian orchestrated a mini-revival with an upset 1-0 win over second-placed El jaish on Saturday.
“This is a big game but we must continue to play with the concentration that we showed in the last game,” Lazaroni said.
“For us, it’s a challenge to show that we can build on the momentum from the win against El Jaish.
“The challenge continues. We are looking for a chance to repeat or increase our level in this game. It’s a tough game but it’s a great opportunity to show our level of improvement,” Lazaroni said.
“We have to play compact and play well even without the ball. This way we can find solutions and get results in the game. Al Gharafa is a good club. A few years ago they were the base of the national team. They have good professional players,” Lazaroni said.
Lazaroni said his 13th-placed side has to go one step at a time.   “We are trying to get confident game by game. Last week we worked on many aspects - physical, tactical and emotional. It’s important to be competitive,” Lazaroni said.
Al Gharafa interim coach Habib Sadeq said Qatar SC seemed to be a side gaining in confidence during their win over El Jaish.
“We know we are playing a team that’s coming from a big win. They will be motivated and have lots of confidence going into this match,” Sadeq said.
“The reaction of Qatar SC was good and we need to be careful when we play against them.   “We are also looking to put our last result behind us. We are confident in our players and despite not having a lot of time to prepare for this game, we have done our best to get the players ready,” Al Gharafa coach said about his side’s loss to Al Rayyan on Saturday.
