Doha: The President of the Qatar Olympic Committee, H E Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, today took the Covid-19 vaccine.
On his Instagram account Sheikh Joaan posted a photo of him getting the vaccine shot and said: “I took my first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine today... Thanks to the Ministry of Health. Thank you for the White Army. We wish all citizens and residents safety and wellness.”
The Amir HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani also received the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine few days back.
Qatar has started the first phase of Covid-19 vaccination campaign on December 23 and people who are 65 years, frontline workers and people with chronic illness are administered the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine at 10 health around Qatar.
A senior MoPH official had said that more health centres will be added and the criteria for getting vaccination will be modified every two weeks.
The second Covid-19 vaccine, Moderna, is expected to arrive in Qatar within a few weeks, a senior health official had said recently in an Instagram Q&A session.
