Details were confirmed by Qatar Equestrian Federation (QEF) President and Organising Committee member Bader bin Mohammed Al Darwish, Sports Director Salmeen Al Suwaidi and Marketing and Communications Director Abdullah Al Qashouti.
In a statement, Doha Equestrian Tour Executive Director Khalifa Al Attiyah said Qatar’s equestrian sport is enjoying strong growth following the success of the H H The Father Amir’s Prix, noting that the Amir’s Sword is the region’s largest equestrian championship by prize money, supported by Al Shaqab’s world-class facilities and growing international participation.
Al Darwish described the event as a strategic step in developing Qatari riders by giving them the opportunity to compete against top international athletes, while also boosting sports tourism and strengthening Doha’s reputation as a global sports hub.
“It’s a great opportunity for our riders to hone their skills with the world’s best competing,” he said.
Al Suwaidi added that the programme also includes World Cup qualifiers, FEI Group VII qualifiers, and local youth events.
“We are happy to receive a huge number of entries, including the world’s best combinations,” he said.
The competition begins tomorrow with two five-star classes in the outdoor arena, featuring jumps at 140cm and 150cm. Thursday’s programme expands to nine classes across one-star and five-star levels, including three three-star World Cup qualifying rounds, a local 60cm class, and an international dressage event. The outdoor arena will also host the Prix Hermes Sellier class, a 155cm Grand Prix qualifier with a jump-off.
Friday brings a busy schedule of 10 rounds, featuring star and three-star competitions, World Cup qualifiers, junior and youth events, a local 80cm round, and an international dressage class.
The day’s highlight will be the five-star Grand Prix at 160cm, featuring a jump-off.
On the final day, Saturday, action continues with the three-star Grand Prix at 150cm - a World Cup qualifying round - and the star Grand Prix at 130cm. Additional five-star and star rounds will take place alongside FEI Group VII qualifying classes for youth and juniors, further three-star World Cup qualifiers, and a local 100cm class.
A festive closing ceremony on Friday will feature light shows, drone displays, and equestrian-themed entertainment, while a dedicated fan zone offers cafes, retail outlets and family activities.
Cultural events and exhibitions around the Longines Arena will also showcase Qatari heritage and hospitality throughout the championship.
