Doha, Qatar: France and Bulgaria secured top spot in Pools A and D respectively as the final day of pool play completed the 16-team Round of 16 field at the 2026 FIVB Volleyball Boys’ U17 World Championship in Doha yesterday.
France beat Venezuela 3-0 (27-25, 25-14, 25-15), with Jaden Ebagne Yon scoring a match-high 19 points and Antonin Bonnard adding 17. Bulgaria defeated Turkiye 3-1 (25-23, 18-25, 25-19, 25-20), led by captain Milko Bagdasarov’s 20 points.
Romania, Poland and Pakistan also ended the preliminary phase with victories. Romania beat India 3-1, Poland defeated Mexico 3-1, while Pakistan swept Algeria 3-0.
France and Bulgaria joined Brazil, Iran and Italy as pool winners advancing to the knockout stage, with eight Round of 16 matches scheduled today at Aspire Ladies Hall and Al Arabi Sports Hall.
