DOHA: In a new initiative, the Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) is planning to introduce medical consultation over telephone by the end of next year, a senior official has disclosed.
The project was actually proposed by the National Primary Healthcare Strategy 2013- 2018 but the implementation has been delayed due to the sensitivities associated with it, a local Arabic daily reported yesterday quoting PHCC director Dr Mariam Abdulmalik.
She said the PHCC is gearing up to implement the proposal in 18 months and a specialised team will be assigned to answer queries from the public on health related issues and problems.
Meanwhile, she clarified that the elderly and children aged below five years have been exempted from the triaging system being introduced in primary health centers. PHCC has applied the system in 10 health centers and is preparing to expand it to more facilities. The Peninsula
