Doha: The students from Pakistan International School Qatar (PISQ) displayed their projects during the iEARN-Qatar 2019 Open House hosted by Reach Out to Asia (ROTA) at the Qatar Foundation Student Centre recently.
Every year teachers from Pakistan International School take up iEARN-Qatar projects which aim at teachers’ professional development and benefit students’ educational process. The motto of iEARN is learning with the world not just about it.
While the students work on their projects they collaborate online with schools from 140 countries around the globe. The projects are chosen from a list of iEARN Projects and students research, design activities and set work for producing the Project outcome.
The exhibition featured students’ projects on environmental initiatives such as gardening and studies on animals in Qatar, science works, embrace other cultures education-related topics like developing writing skills, and other issues with global impact.
This term 106 students from all sections of PISQ participated; Girls’ Wing teachers along with their students unveiled 4 projects. They are 1: My Culture, thy Culture-let’s Embrace other Cultures, 2: The Song of Peace (promoting peace through mystic music of Pakistan), 3: Promoting Pakistani Culture in a global world, 4: Revival of Folk Games of Pakistan.
Two projects with titles Make our Planet Clean and Green and (let’s know Each Other) were exhibited by teachers and students from Primary Wing and Kindergarten respectively.
Muhammad Aftab Alam Hashmi,Ghulam Murtaza,Saif Khalid Khan ,Abdul Waheed,Nazma Naeem ,Irum Samreen and Shazia Samreen were the teachers who designed the projects and activities for their students.
They engaged all students in collaborative projects using the Internet and other new communication technologies. Riffat Tahir and Razia Sardar represented school as iEarn facilitators. All projects from Pakistan International school attracted the visitors,students,teachers present there and also highly commended by iearn Facilitaors and organisers.
The iEARN (International Education and Resource Network) is a non-profit organisation active in more than 140 countries. ROTA started this initiative in the country to improve the quality of school education in Qatar. The programme is centred on the pedagogy of project-based learning and involves students in meaningful projects linked to their curriculum while at the same time tackling issues of global importance.

The iEARN-Qatar programme helped students and teachers in Qatar improve their skills through experiential learning and online collaboration within the global iEARN network. In the end all students and their teachers were awarded with the participation certificates.
