Civic housing in Abu Hamour to be razed

DOHA: The municipal quarters in Abu Hamour that house some 60 expat families in limited-income categories would soon be facing civic bulldozers.
The tenants have been given eviction notice and a month to leave.
In fact, many have left the quarters after having been provided with alternative accommodation, Al Sharq reported.
Most families in these quarters have monthly income of QR6,000 and are faced with challenges in getting affordable housing, according to the daily.
AC blast sparks fire in school
DOHA: Fire erupted in a school in Al Azizya yesterday following a sudden blast in an air-conditioner in a classroom, with some students of primary section suffering suffocation, Al Sharq reported.
Many students fell unconscious, the daily said. They were rushed for emergency medical care at Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC).
Civil Defence personnel arrived on the scene and put out the blaze.
