With the massive spending on Qatar’s infrastructure development, including on modernising the country’s power sector and smart-grid system, the demand for electric equipment and cutting-edge technologies is expected to continue registering double-digit growth over the next few years, say expert from the industry.
Analysts suggest that the growing population and government’s firm commitment towards economic diversification are to be the main driving force for soaring demand of power in the country, creating further opportunities of business and investment for the electric companies.
“As Qatar is making huge investments in infrastructure development in the run-up to 2022 Fifa games and Qatar National Vision 2030, and witnessing major transformation in power sector in terms of modernization and energy efficiency by making the transmission and distribution more automated and smarter, the sector is expected to remain bullish over the coming few years,” Dr. Mazen Zein, General Manager of Schneider Electric (Qatar and Bahrain) told The Peninsula in an interview.
“The demand is expected to increase in a wide-range of domain within the electric sector, so it would be difficult to quantify any specific value. However, I must admit that Qatar was the best performing market for Schneider in the region, and expecting to continue registering double-digit growth,” added Mazen.
Schneider is a big player in the local market. It’s a multinational company with a diversified product portfolio with a total workforce of over 170,000 employees globally and annual revenue of over €25bn.
Some of the broad expertise of the company include electrical distribution equipment for medium, low and extra-low voltage required for transmitting electricity from power generation and sub-stations to the socket in the house.
Other expertise of the company include process automation related to oil & gas industry, water, electricity, rail, software and Internet of Things (IoT), said Mazen.
