Doha: The State of Qatar participated in an event held remotely for the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO), to inaugurate the networks of schools, clubs and scientific chairs affiliated with ALECSO.
The State of Qatar was represented by Secretary-General of Qatar National Commission for Education, Culture and Science (QNCECS) and Deputy Chairperson of the Executive Council Dr. Hamda Hassan Al Sulaiti, Head of the Arab and Islamic Affairs Department Abdullah Al Kubaisi, and Lamia Al Athba, Coordinator of Representatives of ALECSO Associated Schools Network (Al-Nahda Elementary School for Girls - Al-Yarmouk Preparatory School for Boys - Al Iman Secondary School for Girls).
Addressing the event, Director General of ALECSO H E Dr. Mohamed Ould Omar reviewed the directory of networks of schools, clubs and academic chairs affiliated with the organization, and the goals it includes at the national, regional and global levels, as well as the main axes and priority projects for these networks, the mechanisms and conditions for joining them, and the role of Arab national committees in coordination between these networks and ALECSO.
For her part, Dr. Hamda Hassan Al Sulaiti shed light on the experience and leadership of the State of Qatar in joining the UNESCO Associated Schools Network since 1983, based on the belief of its wise leadership in the importance of building human resources.
She indicated the importance of joining such networks which contributed to opening a global channel for the transfer and dissemination of information and knowledge among students, introducing the national, Arab and Islamic history and heritage, communicating with international institutions and organizations in the field of education, culture and science, and promoting dialogue between students and their counterparts in other countries in order to support world peace and security.
She emphasized a number of points that guarantee the success of these networks, including the good choice of activities, programs and projects to be presented such as issues of Arab youth, environment, climate, sustainable development, media, and global issues adopted by Arab and international organizations such as scientific projects that work to develop the spirit of innovation and creativity in students, and issues that work to promote Islamic values, principles and ideals in the hearts of students.
